"I built NINGEI to play with the world."
- In an age when humanity is slipping away.

The world is fascinating. The feeling of jumping into an unknown place, encountering a completely different culture, and watching your own world expand — I can't get enough of it. Those moments mid-journey when you suddenly connect with someone whose language you don't share. The moments you realize how small your world had been. I've built my life around experiences like these.
Then in 2024, while traveling through Turkey, the situation in Gaza erupted. Before that, there was the war between Ukraine and Russia. The risk of war has become a normal condition of the world. I felt that with startling clarity. At the same time, I was seeing more and more people being ground down by capitalist structures, everywhere. Our sensitivity — to ourselves, to others, to the world — is quietly disappearing.
But I didn't give up. Because I had fifteen years in Rikuzentakata.
On March 11, 2011, every piece of infrastructure vanished in an instant. And yet people helped each other. Strangers rushed in as volunteers, and something like human goodness emerged. What I understood in that moment was this: people are capable of mutual aid. They already carry that capacity within them.
And that capacity remains — all over the world.
In the invisible everyday life of local communities. Inside organizations that are building something new on a foundation of human ways of living. In individuals who act from a belief in kindness and imagination. The places, scales, and contexts are all different. But in the sense that they are all reaching toward something more human, they are pointed in the same direction.
NINGEI wants to be a platform for those people.
I want to meet the friends and companions I haven't found yet — scattered across the world — and do something wildly interesting together. Through those encounters, relationships deepen, mutual aid emerges, and new things are born. I believe that playing with the world alongside many people is what moves the world, just a little, in a better direction.

The Vision Behind NINGEI In 2011, visiting Rikuzentakata following the Great East Japan Earthquake, I felt a profound sense of helplessness before the overwhelming power of nature. Yet simultaneously, what I witnessed there was the resilient force of life, thriving within the bonds between people – the act of weaving hope from scratch in a place that had lost everything. This scene became my starting point, leading me to confront the question: ‘Why does our society feel so stifling, despite our material abundance?’ What became apparent was a structure where, in the relentless pursuit of efficiency, people are treated as mere “Human Resources” for achieving objectives. Consequently, we trap ourselves within a closed world of fixed assumptions – “this is how I should be” and “this is what society is like”. Driven by a desire to open up this stifling world, I undertook various projects in Rikuzentakata. Through this process, I realised my own world had become incredibly narrow. However, a chance encounter with the Danish educational institution “Folkehøjskole” expanded our activities globally. When our work in Rikuzentakata resonated with companions in a distant country, I felt profoundly encouraged. It showed me that, despite differences in culture and background, there are people around the world who share the same vision for the future. What 仁藝-NINGEI- seeks to do is connect you with yet-unseen companions across the world. We believe that through these connections – “Humans(仁）” – each individual's vital energy – “Arts（藝）” – can resonate, drawing a hopeful future within reach. We established NINGEI.Co Ltd. , imbuing our company name with this conviction. This isn't something to be approached mechanically or with excessive seriousness. We humans possess emotions and five senses; rather than ignoring them, I believe we are far happier when we learn to engage with them skilfully, connecting with the world in our authentic state and allowing ourselves to flourish.
